Aditya Birla Activ Health Platinum Enhanced — Complete Review and Honest Verdict

Mediclaim vs. Health Insurance: Which One Do We Really Need?

Aditya Birla Health Insurance's Platinum Enhanced plan was the insurer's flagship retail product before the launch of Activ One MAX. It established Aditya Birla's reputation for wellness-driven health insurance and Day-1 chronic condition coverage. Understanding what Platinum Enhanced offers — and where Activ One MAX surpasses it — helps buyers in 2025–26 make an informed choice within the Aditya Birla product family.

Insurer Performance Context

As established in our Aditya Birla Health Insurance review, the company's claim metrics are among the strongest in the standalone health insurer segment:

Activ Health Platinum — The Three Variants

The Platinum family has three tiers: Essential, Premiere, and Enhanced. Per PolicyX.com's plan page: "The plan comes in three variants: Essential, Premiere, and Enhanced. It offers a wide range of benefits, ensuring all your healthcare needs are met."

This review focuses on the Platinum Enhanced variant — the most comprehensive tier.

Activ Health Platinum Enhanced — Key Features

Features from Ditto Insurance's Activ Health Platinum Enhanced plan page (December 2025), Aditya Birla's official Activ Health Enhanced page, Policybazaar's plan listing, and Ditto's Aditya Birla insurer page (September 2026):

Sum Insured — Up to ₹2 Crore

Per Ditto's plan page: "comprehensive health insurance policy designed for individuals and families, offering cover amounts up to ₹2 crores, depending on the mode of purchase." This is higher than Star Health's Family Health Optima (₹25 lakh max) and Niva Bupa ReAssure 2.0's standard variants.

Room Rent

Per Ditto's insurer page: "no room rent capping for sums insured above ₹7 lakhs (meanwhile, for 2L–4L SI: 1% of SI; 5L SI: Single private AC room)." For the ₹10 lakh+ sum insured variants most Noida buyers would select, there is no room rent restriction.

Chronic Care — Day 1 Coverage for Lifestyle Conditions

The Chronic Management Program covers diabetes, blood pressure, asthma, and hypertension from Day 1 — specifically covering medicines, diagnostic tests, and physician consultations for these conditions from the very first day, not after the standard PED waiting period.

Per Policybazaar's Platinum Enhanced page: "You will be covered from day 1 for medicines, diagnostic tests, consultation with physicians in case of lifestyle illnesses, such as diabetes, blood pressure, asthma, hypertension, under the Chronic Management Program."

This is outpatient/OPD coverage for these chronic conditions from Day 1. Hospitalisation coverage for PED conditions still follows standard waiting periods — the Chronic Care covers ongoing management, not acute hospitalisations during the waiting period. Buyers with these conditions get immediate access to OPD care management, with hospitalisation coverage activated after the standard waiting period.

HealthReturns — Up to 100% Premium Back

Per Aditya Birla's official page: "Earn up to 100% of the premium as health returns. These returns can be used for paying the renewal premiums further."

The mechanism: achieve active days (walking 10,000 steps or burning 300 calories) consistently across the year, complete health assessments, and earn HealthReturns credits usable toward renewal premium. Per Policybazaar: 325 active days out of 365 combined with health assessments earns the maximum 100% return.

Important distinction from Activ One MAX: Platinum Enhanced HealthReturns can return up to 100% of the premium — the same feature. In Activ One MAX, the same mechanism applies at up to 100%. The mechanism is identical; the Platinum Enhanced plan has it too.

Premium Waiver Benefit — Unique Feature

Per Ditto's Platinum Enhanced plan page: "unique Premium Waiver benefit, which waives one year's premium upon detection of listed illnesses."

And from Aditya Birla's official site: "We offer a premium waiver feature which you can use to have a premium-free year."

This means: if the policyholder is diagnosed with a listed critical condition, the entire year's premium is waived — the policy continues in force at no cost for that year. This is a genuinely unusual feature that addresses one of the most practical concerns during a serious illness: the financial burden of maintaining insurance precisely when other medical costs are highest.

Restoration — 150% for Unrelated Claims

Per Ditto's insurer page: "150% reload of the sum insured for unrelated claims (maximum up to ₹50L)."

Note: This is for unrelated illness only, not same-illness — a limitation compared to Niva Bupa ReAssure 2.0's unlimited same-illness restoration and Care Supreme's unlimited same-and-different illness restoration. For same illness, the Super Reload add-on provides uncapped restoration.

Super No-Claim Bonus

Per Ditto's insurer page: "super no-claim bonus (NCB) (as an add-on) to double the sum insured within two claim-free policy years." Standard NCB: 50% per claim-free year.

Worldwide Emergency Coverage

Per Ditto's Platinum Enhanced plan page: "Additional benefits include HealthReturns™ rewards, worldwide emergency coverage, wellness coaching, and pre-post hospitalization cover (60-180 days respectively)."

Emergency coverage worldwide for accidents and sudden illness while traveling internationally.
